Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 24, 2026
Overview
Leerio is an audiobook player that prioritizes your privacy. The app is designed to work offline-first — your audiobook files and listening progress are stored locally on your device by default.
Data We Collect
Without an account (free local player):
- No personal data is collected
- Your audiobook files stay on your device
- Listening progress is stored in your browser's local storage and IndexedDB
- No data is sent to our servers
With an account (optional):
- Email address — used for authentication only
- Listening progress — synced to our server so you can continue on another device
- Uploaded audiobook files — stored on our servers (Vultr Object Storage, Amsterdam) for cloud access
- Library metadata — book titles, authors, bookmarks, notes, collections
Anonymous usage analytics:
- We collect anonymous, aggregated usage events (e.g., "play button clicked", "book opened") to improve the app
- No personally identifiable information is included
- No third-party analytics services are used
How We Store Data
- Local data: IndexedDB and localStorage in your browser/app — never leaves your device unless you enable cloud sync
- Server data: SQLite database and Vultr S3-compatible object storage in Amsterdam, Netherlands
- Audio files: Stored as-is, not processed or analyzed
Third-Party Services
Your Rights
- You can use Leerio without creating an account — no data leaves your device
- You can delete your account and all associated data at any time via Settings
- You can export your data by contacting us
Device Permissions (Android)

Children's Privacy
Leerio is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
